Bulldog wrestlers lose to Westview

Ramona Bulldog wrestlers lost to Westview 34-25 on their home mat before a Senior Night crowd.

The match started with a bout in the 112-pound class. Eddie Delgado pinned A.J. Jesne in 2:35 to give the Dawgs a 6-0 lead. Spaso Ilich (119) then won by decision over Mike Manucchi, and the Dawgs led 9-0.

Sean Conroy (125) lost a major decision to Ben DeMeulle and Waldo Saldivar (130) lost by fall to Eneas Kane, and Westview led 10-9 after four bouts.

Max Hughes then won a 3-2 decision in the 135-pound bout over Eric Allen to get Ramona the lead. Jared Widner (140) beat Brandon Watson by decision and Brodie Chenowth (145) won by major decision over Alex Stathis.

Ramona led 19-10 going into the 152-pound bout.

Connor Martin (152) lost by fall, but Devin Rhodes (160) beat Keaton Lane by decision and Ramona led 22-15.

Logan Pierce lost by major decision to Frank Crigen in the 171-pound bout. Brian Orr (189) then beat Michael Hadley 10-6 to give the Dawgs a 25-19 lead.

Brett Germain (215) lost by decision, and Marshal Thrasher lost by fall to Adam Terry in the heavyweight bout.

Jake Bartlett took a 3-2 lead into the second period in the 103-pound bout but lost to Joey Brennan in his first varsity match as Westview won the last three bouts to come from behind to win the match.

The Dawgs travel to Oceanside tonight for their last Valley League match before they enter post-season wrestling.
