Ramona Soccer League’s Boys Under 8 team won the La Jolla All Star Tournament on Sunday.

The youth team was undefeated in the first two games that took place on Saturday, Dec. 5. Both games were shutouts, with 3-0 being the first score, and the boys winning the second game with a score of 8-0.

They had their thrid game at 8 a.m. Dec. 6 and won with a score of 6-2, which lead them into the semifinals at 11:30 a.m. They won that against what everyone agreed was a great team with a score of 3-2.

The championship game—Ramona against La Jolla Blue—was at the Alan Field in La Jolla at 2:15 p.m. It was a tense, close game. La Jolla Blue was 2-0 in the first half, but Ramona came back for 2-1. Not too long after that, La Jolla Blue sent the score to 3-1.

Ramona got its second goal off a penalty kick by Brandon. Then came the tying point.

The teams went into sudden death, which is a five-minute, first team that scores wins or it goes to a shootout. There was about a minute left to play when an offsides call came against La Jolla Blue. Ramona’s JR took the kick and shot it over the heads of the players right into the goal for the win.
