Christmas Tree Lighting is Saturday

Share

Look for a live Christmas tree, compliments of the Santa Ysabel Casino and grown on the reservation, at the Ramona Chamber of Commerce’s 17th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

The tree, scheduled to be delivered to Ramona on Friday, will be decorated with 1,200 LED lights in plenty of time for the community tree lighting celebration at the Ramona Outdoor Community Center Pavilion from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Festivities will include lots of food, caroling, dancing and fun, with the Ramona Town Hall Brass Band playing holiday tunes throughout the event.

A highlight will be Santa’s arrival in a Ramona fire truck about 5 p.m. Santa will be delivered to Ramona Fire Station 80 at 829 San Vicente Road, and he will parade in a fire truck from there to Main Street and make the turn off Fifth Street to the pavilion.

The tree lighting will be at 6 p.m.

A cookie decorating station and tree decoration table are among activities for children of all ages.

And, of course, Santa looks forward to having his picture taken with all of the youngsters attending the holiday celebration.

“We’re excited to get the community out and involved,” said Thad Clendenen, event chairman and chamber president.

Mexican food, hamburgers, hot dogs, hot chocolate and coffee will be among menu items.

More information is available at the chamber, 760-789-1311.
