Sponsors, players sought for Matt Ruiz golf tournament benefit

Share

The Second Annual Matt Ruiz Benefit Golf Tournament will be held at the Maderas Golf Club at 17750 Old Coach Road in Poway on Friday, Sept. 25.

Ruiz, a Ramona resident and Ramona High graduate, was critically injured in an accident in March of 2008. He is at home, with his mother as his full-time caretaker and where he continues to make progress and is making a slow recovery, said benefit coordinator Lindsey Smith. He is in a wheelchair and unable to speak, and costs to meet his needs are prohibitive, reports Smith.

Sponsors are being sought for the tournament. Tee Box sponsorships are $100; Putting Contest, $200; Closets to the Pin, $200; and Longest Yard, $200. Other donations of any amount are appreciated. Checks may be made payable to The Matt Ruiz Benefit. Check-in and putting contest will start at 11 a.m., with tee time at 1 p.m., cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner and awards ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Cost to play and eat dinner is $150 per person. Dinner only is $50.

For more information, call Smith at 760-484-2767.
