After a busy week on the road in Las Vegas, the Lady Bulldogs softball team took its shortest road trip of the year to Orange Glen High School.

The trip had a happy result as Ramona won its first league game by beating the Patriots 14-6. The Lady Dawgs are 5-8 on the year and 1-2 in Valley League play.

Ramona scored six runs in the top of the first inning and never surrendered the lead in a 12-hit offensive barrage.

Eight Lady Bulldogs contributed hits. Allie Ferguson, KK Melgoza, Lexi Slater and Stephanie Kiesel all had two-hit outings. Slater and Kiesel both drove in three runs.

Courtney Fick, Kellsie Domnitz, Hillary Roloff and Ally Harvey also had hits in the game. Domnitz drove in three runs.

Domnitz got the start and went five innings to pick up the win. She gave up two earned runs and surrendered five hits and struck out five. Harvey finished the game in the circle and gave up one run on three hits and fanned one in two innings of work.

“It was great to get back into the win column,” said Coach Mike Schuler. “This team has dealt with adversity and injuries and they continue to work hard and strive to improve. Our young pitchers are coming around, and Marti Sanchez has been cleared to play and is working to get ready.”
