Tours galore

Share

If weather reports are on target, it will be a sunny spring weekend, a perfect time to get on the tour bandwagon.

Ramona Garden Club’s second annual Garden Tour and Plant Sale will showcase seven gardens from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 18 artists will open studios for the sixth Ramona Artists Open Studios Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Proceeds from both events benefit the community. The garden club has targeted its proceeds for student scholarships and community projects. Ticket sale proceeds from the art studios tour, sponsored by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce and area businesses, will go to the chamber, which also presents scholarships to graduating high school students each June and also puts on annual town happenings such as the Ramona Country Fair, Oktoberfest and Christmas Tree Lighting.

Both the gardens and the art studios are spread throughout the community, giving attendees a sampling of why so many people choose to live here.

A plant sale in the parking lot of First Business Bank at 1315 Main St. is part of the garden tour event. A variety of plants well-suited to growing in Ramona will be available. Also at the Main Street location will be an opportunity drawing, a master gardeners’ booth, gently used garden items, cement leaf castings and garden-related vendors.

Tickets for the garden tour are $15 and will be sold the day of the event at First Business Bank. Advance tickets are at Ramona Interiors, 707 Main St.

Maps to the garden locations and descriptions of the gardens will be provided with the tickets. More information is at ramonagardenclub.com and at 271-8208.

Tickets to the Open Studios Tour are $10 and include a full-color brochure with map of the 15 private studios where the 18 award-winning artists will be displaying, working on, and, in some cases, selling their work.

Artwork will reflect a range of media that includes painting, sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, photography, jewelry, gourd and glassware.

Advance tickets are available in the chamber office at 960 Main St. and at the studios the days of the event. More information is on the Web at www.ramonaart.com and at the chamber, 789-1311.
