Softball leaves Las Vegas with 3-2 record

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Las Vegas for a tournament and did well in pool play but lost in bracket play. They finished the tourney with a 2-3 record and will resume Valley League play this week.

Ally Harvey made the most of her first varsity start in the circle and got the win in an 11-2 victory over La Jolla. Harvey went the distance giving up two runs on four hits and struck out three.

KK Melgoza, Stephanie Kiesel, Courtney Fick, Tory Roberts and Ashley Brean all had two hit games. Fick had two RBIs. Lexi Slater and Harvey also contributed hits in the win.

In the second game of pool play, Ramona beat Clark High School of Las Vegas 7-6 as Harvey picked her second win of the tourney. She went four innings and gave up three runs on seven hits and fanned five.

Kellsie Domnitz picked up the save going the final three and giving up three runs on six hits and she struck out two.

Slater went 2-for-3 with a triple. Ally Ferguson, Kiesel, Roberts, Hillary Roloff and Domnitz all recorded hits in the win.

Ramona lost to Chatsworth High School of Los Angeles 3-0 in the final game of pool play. Domnitz got the start and pitched well but could get no run support. She pitched six innings and scattered ten hits and fanned one.

Roloff went 2-for-2 with a double. Roberts and Brean also singled for the Lady Dawgs.

Ramona lost to Torrance High School in the first game of bracket play 8-0. Harvey got the start and took the loss. Slater had a big day at the plate going 3-for-3. Fick contributed a triple and Roberts had a single.

The Lady Dawgs finished the tourney with an 11-3 loss to Cimmaron High School of Las Vegas. Domnitz got the start and was relieved by Brook Brean making her first varsity appearance in the circle.

Roberts had a big day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Roloff and Fick also had RBI singles. Ferguson also contributed a hit to the attack.
