Nonprofits invited to fundraising classes
San Diego Foundation’s Nonprofit Resource Center will hold three workshops designed to help nonprofit organizations raise funds. These sessions are considered especially critical now, as organizations struggle to persevere through this economic recession.
Each workshop will cover a different topic:
• Fundraising Primer, April 14, 9 a.m. to noon, will help organizations develop their fundraising IQ. It will provide instruction on creating a reality-based fundraising plan as participants take stock of the agency’s assets, develop a strong case statement, set fundraising goals, choose funding vehicles and prepare a fund-raising calendar.
• Rookie to Professional Grant Research, May 12, 9 a.m. to noon. The workshop will focus on developing an organized, focused approach, using structured research, to secure grants. It will help identify prospective foundations, corporations, government, and other online resources. Examples will be provided, including demonstrations of such tools as Grants.gov, The San Diego Funders Online Directory, and The Foundation Directory Online.
• Proposal Writing to Foundations, May 19, 1-4 p.m. This session will discuss how to effectively craft winning proposals that increase chances of getting funded. It is designed for both beginners looking for an introduction on the topic and intermediates hoping to strengthen grant writing skills.
