Ramona High School’s lacrosse team traveled to San Dieguito Academy last week and lost to the Mustangs 12-2.

Coach Jim Bliss was pleased with the improvement of his team’s defense.

“Our defense showed steady improvement throughout the game,” said Bliss. “Defender Brandi Anthony and wind Exlea Brogden controlled numerous ground balls and disrupted the SDA offense.”

Center Jackie Roteck and wing Kenia Reyes led the offense by scoring a goal apiece.

Bliss also had praise for his goal keeper.

“Goalie Arisa Sanderson stood tall in the goal with 13 saves, many from point blank range,” he said.

The junior varsity battled back from a three-goal deficit to tie San Dieguito Academy 4-4. Kacy Herald scored two goals for the Lady Dawgs. Tiffany Lee and Nicole Darrough also scored in the game.

Bliss had praise for the play of Stephanie Destafano, Katie Cobian, Marisa Ybarra and Caila Mitchitsch.

Bliss was encouraged with his varsity team’s play in an 8-2 loss to Hilltop High School.

“We showed steady improvement on offense and defense against Hilltop,” he said.

The coach had praise for the play of Brandi Anthony and Katie Schiper. Jackie Roteck and Taylor Doelman scored goals for the Lady Dawgs. Anderson had another good game in the nets. The goalie made 14 saves.
