Ramona Adult Softball threatened

Ramona Adult Softball (RAS) is in danger of shutting down due to lack of support from its existing player base and the community, RAS board treasurer Casey Markee reports.

The adult softball league is seeking prospective board members from the community for its 2009 operations. All board positions from president and vice president to player representative are up for election, since current board members are subject to term limits.

Nominations for all positions must be received by the start of the next board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at the adult softball fields off 929 Elm St. RAS Board terms are for one year with a two-year limit.

The board must have a minimum of three new officers to continue operations in 2009: a president, treasurer and secretary. If it does not have a member for the posts, according to RAS bylaws the league will have to shut down operations for 2009.

“If you want to continue to play softball up here in Ramona without having to go down the hill, please volunteer your time and support to assist with 2009 operations,” said Markee.

Nominations and tax-deductible donations to the league may be mailed to Ramona Adult Softball, P.O. Box 1393, Ramona, CA 92065. For more information, contact RAS President Michele Tamlyn at 760-688-8292 or Markee at 787-1793, or go to the league’s Web site, www.ramonaadultsoftball.com.
