Julian Medical Clinic adds two staffers

Sally Baldwin has taken over as site manager at the Julian Medical Clinic, overseeing daily administrative operations and coordination between patients, medical staff and the community. Also new to the staff is medical records clerk Evelyn Fraley.

Prior to joining the Julian Medical Clinic in September, Baldwin, a Descanso resident, worked for 14 years in the family practice of Dr. James Ricketts, an osteopathic physician in Ramona. She began her medical career after completing the medical office manager course at Grossmont College.

Fraley, who also started at the Julian Medical Clinic in September, has been a medical transcriber since 1985. She previously worked with her husband, Charles Fraley, operating Ramona Medical Diagnostic Services. Charles Fraley closed the business in 2007 to become manager of digital radiology for the Borrego Medical Center, a job that takes him regularly to the Julian Medical Center and other clinics operated by the Borrego Community Health Foundation.

Since her appointment, Evelyn Fraley has been converting medical records from an alpha to a numerical system. She said she is being cross-trained to help at the front desk and assist with financial counseling.

“I believe we have a very good staff that is performing well above expectations,” Baldwin said, noting that major improvements have been made in the staff since a remodel of the Julian center took place last spring to meet American Disabilities Act and state certification requirements.

Baldwin said part of her job is to improve rapport between doctors and patients and promote community activities such as seasonal flu shots and a vaccines program for children.

“I think our work flow has improved substantially and we are now seeing all patients promptly and handling their cases efficiently,” she said.
