Hotel gallery artists plan Sidewalk Exhibit

Share

Olde Ramona Hotel Gallery artists plan a sidewalk exhibit in December, but they are not giving the date. They want the public to watch for the show.

The gallery is at 845 Main St.

The sidewalk exhibit will showcase art in various media to celebrate the festive season. Light refreshments will be served.

Inside, “works by Mardella “Sally” Levy will be featured. Levy, who said she has always had an interest in art of all kinds, does watercolors, acrylics and gourds. When she was a child going to school in a one-room schoolhouse in Pennsylvania, teachers always provided crayons and drawing pads to encourage her.

Levy’s hand-drawn cards with original poetry are somewhat of a legend among her family members and friends, and she has written two children’s books. The book required illustrations and a relative gave her a set of watercolors, telling her, “You’re an artistic person. Use these.”

She took art classes through Palomar College with art instructors Nancy Oleska and Perrietta Hester and enrolled in workshops taught by Terry Madden, Joan McKasson, Barbara Nechi, Joe Garcia, Dwayne Light and Kathy Vargo.

Maria Teresa Pistelli and Kris Petersen will share the Discovery Room through December, and gallery artists are holding their annual Christmas Sale.

An open house for Pistelli and Petersen, all gallery artists and the holiday season will be held Dec. 13 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 789-3682, go online to theolderamonahotelgallery.com or visit the gallery.
