Ramona Trails Association (RTA):

“Proud to represent all non-motorized trail users,” RTA’s mission has been to retain access to and maintain existing non-motorized, multi-use trails in this rural area as well as actively encourage new trail development on public and private lands. RTA members work closely with federal, state and local government agencies as well as numerous other volunteer organizations.

All are welcome at RTA’s next meeting, the group’s Annual Holiday Potluck and Gathering in the Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane, on Dec 6 at 6 p.m.

RTA general meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Ramona Community Center. Guest speakers are featured at the meetings, and more information may be found at www.ramonatrails.org. Dates and details about 2009 meetings, events, work parties and rides will be posted by Dec. 15.

For more information, call Terry Hamilton at 789-5185 or email Chairperson@RamonaTrails.org.

Christmas Caroling in the Acres:

Join RTA on Dec. 14 as holiday spirit is shared while the group goes house to house in the Acres neighborhood. Participants will be caroling on horseback, on foot or decorated bikes, wearing holiday attire and leading costumed animals from goats to dogs.

Carolers will gather about 1 p.m. and “ride out” at 2. Songsheets will be provided. The ride will last about 1-1/2 hours, with a return to the trailers for hot chocolate and refreshments. Riders are asked to meet on the north side of Route 67 between Kmart and Hope Street, but they should park on Vermont between Kalbaugh and Rotanzi streets.
