Youth Activities Day promotes programs

Share

Youth organizations in the Ramona area will come together to promote their programs on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Collier Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ramona Youth Activities Day will feature a dozen clubs and organizations from the area to show off their skills and encourage new membership. This event is free of charge.

“The target is to attract boys and girls ages 6 to 17 to get involved in our local youth groups,” Russ Christensen, district chair for Boy Scouts in the Ramona area, told the Sentinel.

Christensen is looking to attract new Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to join one of the 20-plus Scouting units in the Ramona area.

“Whether they join Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, martial arts or any of the other local programs, every youth should take advantage of the opportunity to build friendships, learn life skills, teamwork and leadership,” said Christensen.

Groups at the event will demonstrate some of their more interesting youth activities, perhaps encouraging visitor participation or providing meeting dates and program details.

“We expect demonstrations on camping and outdoor cooking, animal projects, a model car racetrack, and several other hands-on activities,” said Christensen. “We anticipate this being an annual event to promote quality youth activities.”

Groups that would like to participate may contact Christensen at 788-8180 or RussCinRamona@gmail.com.
