Silvia Villegas ends season as top scorer

Ramona resident Silvia Villegas, forward for the San Diego United Girls Under 19-AAA team, finished the season with eight goals, and six assists and was top scorer for the United team that finish third on Presidio League play with a record of 7 wins, 3 ties and 1 loss with 24 points, 4 points behind first place CSC San Diego.

Villegasa took the majority of the corner kicks and direct kicks for the team. She scored on two direct kicks from the 25-yard line. Coach Guy Newman lauded her for her dedication to the team and practices and the role that she played as a left midfielder serving balls to the forwards.

Her strong left foot, accurate passing and good attitude helped the team be successful, said the coach, adding that she was player of the month in November. She is in her second year at Ramona High School and a varsity soccer team member at the school.
