The Ultimate Gift
The most valued gift we can give or receive this holiday season is the experience of life lived to the fullest. One of my favorite poets is Walter Rinder, a humanist poet/philosopher whose inspirational poetry provides insight to what life is all about. The following poem is one I find perfect for this time of year as we celebrate our blessings and look forward to a new year.
“What we call life”*
By Walter Rinder
We arrive in this world alone ... this time called life was meant to share.
Under the cover of the stars,
under the cover of the sun fermented into eternity
there lies a precious moment of time we call life.
A gift of creation.
We are given minds to discover,
talent to create,
curiosity to gain knowledge,
insight to build,
emotions to communicate our feelings,
and movement through our physical body.
Open your gift!
So as we open our presents, realize the real gift is the power within you to make a difference in whatever you do. The window of life is short. Make the most of each day.Have a wonderful and joyous holiday!
