Share

Visitors to the second Toys for Tots Drive in Ramona in seven days are welcome to join in the fun in the Albertsons parking lot from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.

Ramona Boy Scouts will help U.S. Marines fill a Humvee with unwrapped toys for children in need of a special present on Christmas. Everyone donating a toy will receive a candy cane and be invited to stay and enjoy the entertainment provided by ACToR Community Theatre of Ramona’s ACT’N Up! youth troupe, Ramona and Julian Academy of Dance, the Ramona High School Choir, the Ramona Boys and Girls Club, and Ramona Idol Teen and Junior winners.

The event will be between the two banks in the Albertsons lot close to Main Street. Ramona Sentinel is co-sponsoring the toy drive with Albertsons.

Ransom Brothers is donating supplies and Piva Equipment Rental is donating the generator. Contributing to the success of the event with cash donations are Darrell Moore of D’Handyman Service and John Jones of NuLite

Music and sound will be by BayouBelle.

Last Saturday, Ramona Airport sponsored a Toys for Tots Drive with the Marines at the airport.

Toys for Tots began in 1947, when retired U.S. Marine Corps Majoe Bill Hendricks and a group of Marine reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children.

Anyone wishing more information about the Dec. 19 Toys for Tots Drive may contact the Ramona Sentinel at 789-1350.
