School vandal pleads guilty

An 18-year-old Ramona man has pleaded guilty to burglary and felony vandalism in connection with a rampage at Ramona school district in which 32 school buses and 10 vans were vandalized and items from a classroom were taken.

The damage estimate is $60,000.

Timothy David Shea is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m. by El Cajon Superior Court Judge Patricia Cookson. He faces up to one year in jail, said District Attorney spokesman Paul Levikow on Friday.

There were 42 counts of vandalism filed against Shea with each vehicle being one count. A judge dismissed 41 counts of vandalism after Shea pleaded guilty to one count. Graffiti was etched on windows.

The damage was discovered on July 6 on school property at 415 8th St. The vandalism occurred between July 4 and July 6.

A classroom at Ramona Elementary School was burglarized on June 24, and Shea admitted being the burglar. After his arrest, Shea led sheriff’s deputies to some of the missing property from the classroom that included computer components and other items.

Shea remains in the Descanso Detention Facility in lieu of $30,000 bail.
