Sand, bags, shovels at Cal Fire Mount Woodson Station

According to the National Weather Service, 2.95 inches of rain fell in Ramona from 11:53 last night until 3 this afternoon and the forecast is for more showers and possibly a thunderstorm late this afternoon and until 10 tonight.

Free sand and bags are available at the Cal Fire Mount Woodson Station at 16310 Highway 67 in Ramona. Shovels are at the station for people to load the sand.

Other locations in the unincorporated area for sand and bags are Cal Fire Julian Station, 1587 Highway 78, Julian; 28205 N. Lake Wohlford Rd., Valley Center; 16971 Hwy 76, Valley Center; 1364 Tavern Road, Alpine; North County Fire Protection, Station Four, 4375 Pala Mesa Drive, Fallbrook; and Dulzura Fire Station, 17304 Highway 94, Dulzura.

While the county is providing the sand and bags free of charge, residents are asked to provide their own shovels to load in case shovels are not available at all of the sites. Notice of any county road closures are posted on the county’s Department of Public Works Web site at www.sdcounty.ca.gov/dpw/roads/roadclose.html.
