Sheriff’s officials are asking the public’s help in finding a suspect who stabbed an 18-year-old Ramona High School student who was walking home from a bus stop Tuesday afternoon. The young woman was stabbed with a sharp instrument and suffered a 2 1/2-inch laceration on the back of her head. She was able to get away and went to a nearby home, where she asked for help. The suspect fled the scene, reported Detective Lori-Ann Wells with the Investigative Unit at the sheriff’s Ramona Substation.

The attack occurred at 3:20 p.m. in the 27200 block of Sawday Truck Trail off Old Julian Highway. The suspect is described as a white male about 6 feet tall, 20 to 25 years old, short or shaved dark hair, no facial hair, clean cut and with a large nose. He wore a dark blue sweatshirt and black Dickies pants. A suspicious vehicle seen leaving the area immediately after the attack is described as a late-model silver, import, four-door sedan with a sloped front end.

The victim was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where she was treated and released, said Wells.

Wells encourages anyone with information to call her at the sheriff’s Ramona Substation at 789-9157.
