Registration discounts are offered to young baseball players for signing up by Dec. 19 for the clinic that will be offered on Sunday, Jan. 25. Ramona High School Class of 2001 graduate Neil Jamison of the San Diego Padres will provide pitching instruction at the clinic while other coaches focus on other aspects of the game.

Pinto or players that are 8 and younger in a non-pitching league will have a half-day clinic from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 25. The clinic for older players will be from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 or 3 p.m.

Mustang division players are 10 and younger, Bronco are 12 and younger, and Pony-age players are 14 and younger.

Pre-registration before Dec. 19 is $30 per player. Registration on the day of the clinic will be $35. Registration forms are available in Ramona sports stores and from Mrs. Sulser in Room B6 at Olive Peirce Middle School. They may be downloaded and printed from the Ramona High School Baseball Web site.

All participants will receive a free lunch, an annual clinic T-shirt and tickets for the lunchtime opportunity drawing.

During the morning, the clinic will focus on small group instruction with rotations in infielding, outfield practice, hitting, speed, conditioning, pitching (speed will be radared) and catching (pop time will be measured).

For the Pinto players, the morning also will include an inner squad game.

After a hot dog lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon, the older players will participate in specialized pitching instruction, more hitting practice and inner squad games.
