RAMONA REVITALIZATION STEERING COMMITTEE, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St. County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, Ramona subcommittee chairs, and county staff give reports on community projects, infrastructure, public safety, health services, and economic development. Open to the public.

Ramona schools, county offices, libraries, courts closed Monday for Veterans Day


Ramona schools, Superior Court, all County of San Diego offices, libraries and animal shelters, and other public agencies will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Essential services such as law enforcement, fire and rescue, and emergency animal control response will continue through the holiday.

Methodists to host 33rd Annual Turkey Dinner

Ramona United Methodist Church will mark the 33rd anniversary of its annual Turkey Dinner in Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. All are welcome.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling the church at 760-789-7106.

Adults tickets are $10. Tickets for children age 8 and younger are $5.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mountain View Community Church, 1191 Meadowlark. Features vendors, auction baskets, opportunity drawings, food. Benefits Ramona Food and Clothes Closet (bring a nonperishable food item to receive a drawing ticket) and Ramona Lutheran School Booster Club.

Ramona Community Planning Group, 7 p.m., Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St. Among agenda topics: presentation on Barnett School playground project, traffic congestion at Starbucks’ drive-through at Main and 13th streets, consideration of parking restrictions for commercial area at 225 Eighth St., and reconsider group’s approval of AMCAL affordable housing — if motion to reconsider is approved, new information will be presented. Also on agenda, updates on Santa Maria Creek cleanup, LED billboards, Park Land Dedication Ordinance priority list, and SANDAG Coordinated Plan on transit in Ramona, along with report on SDG&E wood pole to steel pole project. RHS wrestling team holds fundraiser at Boll Weevil

The Ramona High School wrestling team is holding a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Boll Weevil restaurant, 2548 Main St.

So that a percentage of their bill goes toward the team, diners need to mention to their server that they are there for the fundraiser. Participants can also obtain a fundraiser flyer from a wrestler to present when dining at Boll Weevil. For more information, contact Launa Adair at 760-644-1928.

MERCHANTS’ SAFE TRICK-OR-TREAT, 3 to 6 p.m. Merchants along Main Street will hand out treats for Halloween. Sponsored by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce.

Transportation and Trails Subcommittee of the Ramona Community Planning Group, 7 p.m., Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane. Concerns regarding congestion caused by Starbucks’ drive-through at Main and 13th streets and impacts to traffic waiting to turn onto 13th, consider time zone or other parking restrictions for commercial area at 225 N. Eighth St. to allow for loading vehicles for businesses — limit request is from Main Street to alley on Eighth Street.

‘Exquisite Corpse’ opening reception set for Tuesday

An opening reception for the show will be on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. The art show will be on exhibit at 1140 Main St., Suite 208, Oct. 30 through Nov. 3 from noon to 6 p.m. each day. Because the opening reception will be a masquerade opening, those attending are asked to wear a mask.

Ramona Calendar of Events

BLOOD DRIVE, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Ramona High School gymnasium, 1401 Hanson Lane. Hosted by school’s Associated Student Body, the blood drive is open to the public. Donors are to sign in at the office.
