Gallery hosts artists’ reception

Artwork by Mike Diaz of Ramona will be showcased in the Olde Ramona Hotel Gallery during February and March.

“Mike Diaz’s animal paintings are so real, you can hear the lions roar and the chickens scratch,” said gallery artist and founder Loretta Alfonsi. “He brings the animals to life by starting with the eyes and concentrating on form. Mike also does landscapes.”

Bruno Leone concert benefits Woman’s Club scholarship fund

Noted pianist and recording artist Bruno Leone will present a concert featuring the songs and music of Cole Porter in Ramona on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Ramona Woman’s Club Scholarship Fund. The club each year awards scholarships to Ramona students starting their second year of college.

Ramona Art Guild will host artist Cathy Carey for two sessions in February.

The Wednesday, Feb. 15, demonstration meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Ramona Public Library, 1275 Main St. The public is invited.

Ramona Art Guild sponsors workshop with artist Vicki Walsh

On Saturday, Jan. 21, Ramona Art Guild will sponsor artist Vicki Walsh for a workshop in Ramona Library from 12:45 to 4:30 p.m. Walsh will demonstrate unique glazing techniques with oils and graphite drawings. Auditions slated for Ramona Community Theater comical murder mystery

Auditions for Ramona Community Theater’s production of “Socrates Tomb” will be held in the Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. “This is an hilarious play written by Ramona’s very own A.J. Bess,” said Amy Krause, the troupe’s artistic director, adding that Bess wrote the fast-paced comical murder mystery with Daniel Stapp.

Ramona Art Guild will feature well-known artist Susan Bainbridge at its demonstration meeting in Ramona Library, 1275 Main St., on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The guild will also host a spaghetti dinner that night as a scholarship fundraiser. A $5 donation is suggested.

‘Rock of Ages’ exhibit showcases Barona musical traditions, talents
