Ramona Library will celebrate its centennial anniversary as a branch of the San Diego County Free Library on Oct. 3 with an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments for the community.
Starting with Ramona author Chuck LeMenager’s presentation on the history of Ramona at 3 p.m., the celebration will continue
Santa Ysabel artist James Hubbell will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his Ilan-Lael Foundation Sept. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m., at First Unitarian Universalist Church in Hillcrest.
The celebration will feature food, wine, a silent auction, speakers and dance. Tickets are $150 per person.
A critically-acclaimed Alzheimer’s play with a star cast is coming to San Diego Sept. 27 with the help of a Ramona woman and her organization, Beating Alzheimer’s By Embracing Science (B.A.B.E.S.).
Jamie Tyrone, a nurse and founder and CEO of B.A.B.E.S., is presenting the San Diego production of “Surviving Grace” along with the organization USAgainstAlzheimer’s.
Trevor Rogelstad, a 2009 Ramona High School graduate, plays Marius in the Star Repertory Theater production of “Les Miserables” at the Avo Playhouse in Vista.
Rogelstad’s performances in the Revolution Cast musical are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31.

Milagro Farms Winery, winner of Best of San Diego County at the 2013 San Diego County Fair, will sponsor the reception at the Olde Ramona Hotel Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.
The reception, open to the public, is an opportunity to talk with artist Dawn Rivas, whose works are featured in the gallery’s Discovery Room. Also featured this month and next are works by gallery artists with the theme “Feeling Feline.”
Although the Ramona Music Fest and the Ramona Bluegrass and Old West Fest are two entirely separate events, this year the two will be coming together in a unique way.
Event organizers decided that, since there are only nine days between the two music celebrations this year, all nine days should celebrate — what else but music?
Ramona Art Guild will sponsor a silverpoint workshop with Vicki Walsh in the Ramona Library Community Room from 9:45 a.m. to 2 pm. on Saturday, March 23.
Walsh, a drawing professor at Palomar College, is renown for her immaculately rendered portraits. In her latest series, she uses silver and gold point to create detailed drawings upon which she applies layers of oil paint.
Ramona Art Guild members will present two $1,000 checks at its meeting on Wednesday, May 16: one to a local high school graduate and one to the Friends of Ramona Library for that organization’s support of the arts and the community.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Ramona Library Community Room, 1275 Main St., and will feature abstract artist Marsha Boston, whose works are influenced by her fascination with botany.
