Sheriff’s reports: Identity theft, grand theft of jewelry valued at $50,000

Two San Bernardino County residents were in custody in San Diego County Tuesday, accused of stealing personal information that included mail, credit cards and checks from more than 100 people in the county they reside.

Samuel Oliver Remson, 26, and Dominique Kesha Woods, 33, were taken into custody late Monday morning during a traffic stop at Seventh and Main streets in Ramona, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. J. Boyce.

A deputy pulled the couple over for a suspected traffic violation and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from their vehicle, Boyce said in a statement. Remson allegedly admitted he had used marijuana and had some in the car.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the deputy found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and more than 100 pieces of stolen mail, credit cards and checks, Boyce said.

“The stolen mail is commonly used to commit fraud and steal victims’ identities,” the sergeant said.

Remson and Woods were each arrested and booked into county jails on suspicion of drug possession, identity theft and mail theft.

Both were scheduled to be arraigned in El Cajon Thursday afternoon.
