ChuckAlek employee helping school roof project Friday night

Update: Saturday, Jan. 25— Melissa reports she collected $176 in tips last night and is donating it all to the FORUS school roof effort. Dave Patterson, project chair, thanks her.

Original report: ChuckAlek Independent Brewers employee Melissa Schmidt will donate all of her tips on Friday, Jan. 24, to the Friends of Ramona Unified School District Roof Project.

Friends of Ramona Unified Schools (FORUS), a group of volunteers working to fill the gaps in deferred maintenance that affect the health and safety of students and staff at Ramona’s public schools, is accepting donations to repair school roofs that leak. Dave Patterson, chairman of the FORUS roof project, thanks Schmidt for contributing to the effort.

ChuckAlek Independent Brewers is at 2330 Main St.

Recent donations have brought contributions to $8,245, FORUS treasurer Carmen Bedia reported Tuesday. Donations are accepted in canisters at numerous Ramona businesses.

Checks payable to FORUS Roof Project may be sent to Dave Patterson, Roof Project chairman, 1003 Sixth St., Ramona, CA 92065.
