Vehicle hits tree on SR-78 east of Ramona

Update: 11:05 a.m.—State Route 78 reopened at 11:05, reports Ramona resident Mitchell Edwards.

Update: 10:50 a.m., Monday, Dec. 23—CHP estimates the roadway will be open in about 10 minutes.

Monday, Dec. 23—Emergency crews have responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision in the 24200 block of state Route 78 east of town in the vicinity of Camelot campground, according to the California Highway Patrol website.

An unknown number of people are inside the vehicle, which struck a tree, and the roadway is blocked, reports CHP.

According to CHP, a witness reported seeing the vehicle weaving before the collision, which was reported at 10:09 a.m.
