Intermountain auxiliary seeks sponsors for its ‘Party Like It’s 1899’ fundraiser

Intermountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Auxiliary, also known as The Hot Spots, invites businesses, organizations and individuals to participate as sponsors of its “Party Like It’s 1899 in the Wild Wild West” fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The event, held to benefit the Intermountain fire and rescue department, will be in Town Hall, 729 Main St., from 6 to 10 p.m.

Sponsor levels range from $25 to $2,000 and are:

•Calamity Jane, $25.

•Wyatt Earp, $50.

•The James Gang, $100.

•Doc Holiday, $250.

•Annie Oakley, $500.

•Matt Dillon, $1,000.

•Belle Starr, $2,000.

The volunteer department provides 24-hour service, seven days a week. It was the first company to respond to the Witch Creek fire in 2007. By 4 that afternoon, 42 volunteer firefighters were in the district to fight “this uncontrollable fire caused by downed electrical lines and nature at her worst,” states a Hot Spots letter to prospective auction item donors. “No lives were lost in our district. The station was also used as a shelter. Again, this is all volunteer support.”

The department covers a 125-mile area that includes Highways 78 and 79. Event coordinators say donations of auction items or services are appreciated.

“This is our primary fundraiser and will be well attended by residents of North County,” the letter continues. “Your support will be highlighted at the event.”

To confirm contributions or arrange to have items picked up, call 760-789-8870 or email

Tickets for the event are $50 each. Those attending are encouraged to dress in costume reflecting a Western, Victorian, Steam Punk or 1899 inspired theme.
