Back Country Quilters prepare for 14th annual Quilt Show
By Dorothy Koerner
Ramona Back Country Quilters has grown in membership, and a number of those new members are still working or are new retirees. They have brought new energy and enthusiasm to the group.
Because some are busy during the day, meetings are in the evening, once a month. At the meeting, they share what they have been making, and pictures are posted on Back Country Quilters blog, so they can share with family and friends out of town.
Another group meets every Tuesday morning at 9 in the Ramona Senior Center to sew together and to often make quilts or placemats for charitable causes.
All this new energy is helping to make the upcoming Quilt Show better than ever. The Back Country Quilters invite everyone to the 14th Annual Quilt Show on Oct. 18 and 19, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
The show will be held at Mountain View Community Church, 1191 Meadowlark off Highway 78 and Ash Street. The hall will be decorated in an autumn theme, and there will be about 100 quilts displayed, all made locally.
Admission is free, and there is plenty of parking. Snacks and lunch items will be available. Vendors of sewing related items and handmade gifts will participate.
Door prizes will be given away every hour, and a drawing for an Opportunity Quilt will be held on the last day of the show.
The Opportunity Quilt, made by members of the group, is an old-time Crazy Quilt with embroidery designs all over it. Some of the fun at the show is to see if you can find all of the items that are listed.
Tickets for the Crazy Quilt drawing are $1. Show proceeds go to Ramona charities.
