Girls tennis coach says team’s ready

By Bill Tamburrino

The Ramona High School girls tennis team is about to start non-league matches and coach Matt McCormick thinks his team is ready.

“We had two scrimmages. We beat Calexico High School 15-3 and Bonita Vista 12-6 without our top singles players. We are coming together as a team and we are ready to start playing matches,” said McCormick.

The Lady Dawgs return three seniors with varsity experience: Amanda Massey, Lauren Dunker and Cassidy Owens. Three juniors have moved up to the varsity from the junior varsity: Allysa Virgilio, Caroline Lopresti and Amanda Miller. Junior Rebecca Vaca returns for her third varsity campaign and Megan Douglas is a junior up from the junior varsity. Sophomore Jessie Mosser returns to the varsity with a year’s experience. Junior Jessica Failla will join the squad pending CIF clearance.
