Ramona Soccer League Intra teams compete in tournaments
The Ramona Intra BU10 team participated in two pre-season tournaments, achieving three wins, one tie and two losses, and finishing third in both tournaments. Coaches Isaac Garcia and Marcial Castrejon said they are excited about the season and growth they have already seen from the team, which is sponsored by Sony, La Cocina, and Ramona Fitness Center.
Ramona Soccer League’s Intra Boys Under 15 team played in the Aug. 10 and 11 Dave Shelton Memorial Tournament.
Although the team lost two games and tied one, and did not advance to the championship, Coach Gabriel Ocampo said the weekend was a learning experience for all the boys trying new positions and those returning from injuries. The team’s next tournament will be the Hotspurs Labor Day Tournament Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
Ramona Intra Soccer Boys Under 18 team, the oldest in the league’s Intra program, played in the Dave Shelton Memorial Tournament Aug. 10 and 11, with most of the members playing up in age bracket to complete a team. Although they did not place, players like goalie Erik Meza, defender Alfredo Fuentes, forward Carlos Morales, and midfielder Angel Zepeda, showed that this Intra team has a lot of potential, according to coach Marco Sanchez.
