Rolling pennies at Ramona Senior Center

By Ray Cardona

Ramona Senior Center is waiting for change — your change, your loose change sitting in glass jars, old coffee cups and cans around your house that you just can’t quite get to rolling up and carting to the bank.

Ed Hattrup, a Ramona Senior Center regular, started the center’s “rolling in dough” campaign for pennies last week when be brought a jug of pennies totaling $132, reports Ray Cardona.

Ramona Senior Center is interested in the smallest denomination (those pesky pennies) along with any and all coins you care to donate. Ramona Senior Center’s budget was slashed due the sequestration 20 percent.

We are not rolling in dough, but we will be glad to roll your coins in an effort to help us to keep feeding homebound seniors and those who come to the center for meals.

We will be happy to come to your home and pick up the change you can donate.

Ramona Senior Center will take care of the pennies, and the dollars will take care of themselves.

Ray Cardona is Ramona Senior Center’s executive director.
