Overturned tractor-trailer blocks SR-78 early-morning commute

Friday, Aug. 16—A tractor-trailer took out several feet of guardrail and overturned along Highway 78 early today, forcing a major road closure in the San Pasqual Valley area just in time for the morning commute.

The crash between the San Pasqual Academy and Oroso Guejito Road was reported at 4:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Highway 78 from the San Pasqual Academy to Oroso Guejito Road — a major commuter corridor out of Ramona — ­was closed for cleanup, the CHP reported.

As of 7 a.m., crews had uprighted the vehicle but its load and other debris remained on the roadway. The CHP estimated total cleanup time would be about five hours.

No injuries were immediately reported.
