County commission to review Montecito Ranch revised map

A revised tentative map with road modifications for the Montecito Ranch project will go before the county Planning Commission on Friday, Aug. 16.

The commission meets at 9 a.m. in the County Operations Center Conference Center Hearing Room, 5520 Overland Ave., San Diego.

Montecito Ranch, a 935.2-acre project for 417 single-family homes, an 8.3-acre active park, an 11.9-acre historic park and 571.2 acres of biological open space, is planned to be built one mile northwest of the Ramona Town Center, south of State Route 78 and west of Ash Street. The supervisors approved the original vesting tentative map Aug. 4, 2010.

Modifications are proposed to segments along Ash Street, Montecito Ranch Road, Montecito Way, and Montecito Road and to the intersections at Montecito Road and State Route 67, and Ash Street and State Route 78.

Included in the proposed changes are reducing a pathway on Montecito Way from 8 feet to 5 feet, reducing the graded width of the Ash Street segment from 60 feet to 52 feet, and reducing proposed parkways for Montecito Ranch Road.

The project called for adding a southbound to westbound dedicated right turn lane onto Route 67 from Montecito Road. Instead, changes show a southbound through/right turn lane on Montecito Road.

In addition, a dedicated right turn lane from Ash Street to Route 78, and a right turn lane from 78 onto Ash Street, along with a traffic signal were on the 2010 map. Modifications  show the developers instead providing traffic signalization and associated intersection improvements.

Ramona Community Planning Group approved some of the proposed changes at its November 2012 meeting.
