Softball players invited to sign up for college-led camp next week at Ramona High
A local college will be offering a girls softball camp at Ramona High School next week and there is still time to register.
Katherine College will present its Softball Showcase/Camp for ages 8 and older from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 12 to 16. College transfers are welcome to participate.
Campers will be instructed on the latest techniques in hitting, fielding, and base running. In addition, there will be some focus on pitching skills, along with game situations against fellow campers. Games will also be played throughout the week.
The coaches, consisting former collegiate softball players and Firebird coaching staff, will teach important fundamentals to help players improve their softball skills.
Coaches include Rachel Wright, head softball coach at St. Katherine College and former utility player at Belhaven University; Ashley Mottola, assistant softball coach at St. Katherine College and former pitcher at Belhaven University; and Jessica Vasser: assistant coach at San Diego Christian College and former catcher/utility at UC Riverside.
