VFW Men’s Auxiliary hosts Poker Run

The 3rd Annual Poker Run of the Men’s Auxiliary of Ramona Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3783 will be held Saturday, Aug. 10.

All proceeds will stay in San  Diego and will benefit the Men’s Auxiliary Post 3783 Relief Fund, service projects of the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps and The Veterans Village of San Diego.

Motorcycles, cars and hot rods are welcome. Registration will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the VFW, 2247 Kelly Ave., where the event will begin and end. The Ladies Auxiliary will offer breakfast from 8 to 9:30 for a $3 donation. After a ride brief and benediction at 9:30, riders will head out about 9:45.

Riders will receive their first card at the Ramona VFW post, second card at the American Legion in Julian, third at RD’s Cabin in Warner Springs, fourth  at The Hide Out in Warner Springs, and fifth back at Ramona’s Post 3783.

The first 50 to sign up will receive a 2013 ride patch. Minimum entry fee is $25. Participants may donate more if they wish. Checks should be written to: Men’s Auxiliary Post 3783. Each entry will receive one poker run card, one opportunity drawing ticket and one barbecue lunch ticket. Additional drawing tickets may be purchased for $1 each or six for $5.

At the end of the ride, participants can purchase one card for $5 to better their hands. Prizes will be awarded for high/low hand and an opportunity drawing will be conducted.

Redhanded will provide music. Additional barbecue tickets will be available for a $5 donation.
