Letter to editor: How do you think we can save our schools?

Can the Ramona Unified School District (RUSD) be saved? Are we destined for a state takeover of the RUSD? Can our children count on a comprehensive education in the years to come? Will we be forced to surrender local control of our school district or are we destined for a state takeover?

These are the questions on every Ramona parent’s and citizen’s minds these days. Thankfully, the recent dispute between the Ramona Teachers Association and the RUSD has been temporarily resolved, but black clouds are gathering on the horizon. As a community, Ramona will need to address this issue in the not too distant future.

The Committee For a Better Ramona (CFBR) has posted its newest poll addressing the financial situation of the RUSD. We are interested in assessing the community’s thoughts on some options available to work toward a resolution of this critical issue, which we will then pass on to area decision makers.

It all boils down to what the community will support. In order to gauge the public position, we need as many responses as we can get, so please take a moment to go to BetterRamona.net and respond to our School Poll. Our community’s future and the future of our children is at stake.

While there, please make certain you register so that you will receive future poll announcements, notifications of community events and other features which will be available on the site. And make certain you respond to the other polls on the site, including the Post Office Naming poll, the Solar Farm poll and the Gun Control poll. These polls will be closing out on July 31, with the results reported out thereafter, so please hurry and let your voice be counted!

The more Ramonans we have responding, the greater impact the residents will have. Join the Chorus of Ramona’s Voice at BetterRamona.net today, and don’t regret not having a say.

Bob– I think you should include a question about voluntary contribution of $, manpower, materials , by the community , in order to help RUSD with deferred maintenance.
    Thank you.
