Two Ramonans score in judo tournament

Two participants on the Ramona Judo Team from the Ramona School of Martial Arts, members of the Unidos Judo Club-USJA, scored two silver medals during the Cal All State Games Tournament.

Gerald Denney won second place after a half throw scoring 2 points “Wazari” and then finishing with two 15-second “Yokoshio” (side mount) hold downs.

Michael Brindley scored a second place after a partial throw and then a “Keza-gatama” (scarf) hold down for 20 seconds.

Each participant received a silver medal. The competition on July 14 had competitors from Oakland, Los Altos, Baja California and Tucson, Ariz.
