Unicorn to host Ramona author’s book launch and signing
Unicorn Books and Gifts will host a book signing on Saturday, May 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. to introduce Ramona author S.D. Howard and her book “Charlee’s Cards,” published by Outskirts Press.
“Charlee’s Cards” is about a shop located in a small town Main Street.
“Inside, Charlee’s Cards offers all things spiritual, a hot cup of tea and lively conversation,” says an excerpt from the book.
Much of the book takes place in a version of small towns in this area. It is Howard’s first novel.
“The characters unfold wonderfully in this story about personal beliefs, tolerance, and the need to discover one’s self,” said an online reviewer. “The reader is drawn into the lives of the main characters and it was almost impossible to put this book down once I started reading.”
Howard is a California native with a Bohemian heritage. She migrated to San Diego in 1994, bringing only what could fit in her car. She found herself drawn to the foothills and eventually moved to Ramona. She said she finds that the peace and harmony of small town life adds to her sense of belonging.
“I was raised with the belief that spiritual individuality is the key to happiness, although this is not always the easiest path,” she said. “Today, I share my sunrises with the love of my life and a house full of critters.”
Unicorn Books and Gifts at 738 Main St. is an independent bookstore, locally owned and operated by business partners Stacy Bart and Julia Dammeir. The store sells new and used books, gifts, jewelry, crystals, candles, local fine artists’ works and pottery, and carries a selection of new age items. The shop hosts events for book lovers and has a regular schedule of tarot card readers and psychics. For more information see www.unicornbooksandgifts.com.
