Consequences of women in combat
Our Secretary of Defense has decided to allow women in combat roles. This will translate directly to requiring women to register with the selective service for a possible draft notice into the armed forces. This is due to a Supreme Court decision in 1981, Rostker v. Goldberg.
This article talks about it: csmonitor.com/USA/Military/2013/0123/Women-in-combat-Will-they-have-to-register-for-the-draft.
Please contact your political representatives and federal and state levels to express your opinion of this. A constitutional amendment, preserving the right of women to choose to be in the military or not is not excessive. A short-term solution would be to reverse Mr. Panetta’s decision.
I understand that part of the reasoning to allow women in combat roles is so the highest ranks can be open for women.
Also, some people think women in combat is fine. However, in our political and legal framework, the consequence will be that your daughters and granddaughters can be drafted.

Combat should not be exclusive to only men. If women can fill those shoes and pass the same muster and tests, let them defend our country and earn that right.
Back in the day it was bad to say "Your mom wears combat boots". Well I have to tell you, we have grown up and their are plenty of women wearing combat boots and everyone should be proud of our men and women serving our Country.
Women in the Israeli Defense Forces have successfully served in combat roles with valor and honor since the country was founded.
