Your memory of Jimmy Carter and his administration is faulty and you completely skipped over Reagan who set our economy on it's downward trajectory. Check out his deficits and his multiple tax increases as he tried to repair the damage he inflicted by giving the super-wealthy a free pass. Then, W. Bush started an illegal war in Iraq and quickly turned a budget surplus given to him by Clinton into a nightmare of debt for generations to come.
