I am voting NO on Proposition R as it appears to be misleading in its overall purpose. It really is being pushed to allow the Ramona School District to pay off the unapproved loan the district obtained to build the Mountain Valley Academy school. Now Prop R is being touted to be slated for "repairing leaky roofs" when in actuality it will be used largely for payments to this previous loan. So now Ramona citizens will be on the hook for the current multi-million dollar loan as the debt incurred by sixty-six MILLION dollar bond issue. Ramona citizens who are already feeling the effect of extremely high gas and food prices will now also experience increased property taxes. Increased property taxes will make living in Ramona less attractive and thus decrease home values everywhere in Ramona! WHEN will Ramona and the rest of California realize that borrowing is only making us slaves to debt? Don't be fooled by Prop R - it isn't for the children! It is for an inept school board that doesn't want to make hard choices of living within their budget!

What I find funny is that they obviously aren't doing ANY maintenance. They send out flyers that show facilities that are in disrepair from obvious lack of maintenance. You don't get to build a new school and say well it's new, no work needs to be done! That's the attitude of the maintenance department which plays well for their card games in the maintenance office and the three hour daily nap time that at least one of them takes at home. Folks don't believe for one minute that this money, should the residents be stupid enough to approve won't be squandered away. There is a reason why a bond issue of this magnitude has never passed here. People are smarter than the RUSD officials think they are. There is incompetence from top to bottom and a good house cleaning is in order.

I remember something similar being proposed a long time ago. A bond for a new roof at Ramona High School passed, and the money was used to get the bleachers at the football field instead. The school district then came back the next election season for roof money again. Uh huh. Yup.

$8000 per student. Per student. Think about that.

The flyer I received touted the endorsement of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association. They also endorsed Poway's troublesome bond measure. The claimed cost to Ramona homeowners is merely a guestimate, and you can bet they low-balled it.
