Starbucks’ Friends and Family event attracts hundreds
Two Starbucks’ patrons ride their horses through the drive-through of the new Starbucks at Main and 13th streets during its Friends and Family soft opening on Thursday, Aug. 23. From 2 to 6 p.m., Starbucks offered each customer a free tall drink and a free pastry. The new coffeehouse officially opened on Friday, Aug. 24, and employs 22 people, most of them from Ramona. Below, Kelley Carpenter offers samples of Starbucks’ Very Berry Hibiscus Refreshers™ to customers at the Friends and Family event. Store manager Elizabeth Harlan, a Ramona resident, said 500 people visited during the four-hour event.

I'm sooooooooooo glad to see Starbucks open. We need up here.
The Ol Cup A Joe across from Sizzler has the best coffee in town, hands down. They should have gotten this space instead of commercializing our small town further with Starbucks.
What about Packards Coffee or "Ol Cup A Joe". How can these stay in business with a megapower like Starbucks moving in?
How do the "little guys" stay in business? Be BETTER than the others! Give a better deal, give better service! Do something out of the ordinary. It may require a lot of creative thinking. Those "big guys" got that way for a reason, but the others can figure out something great to do, too. You just have to work smarter.
