Creek Hollow Ranch in Ramona serves as evacuation site for large animals threatened by fires

Llamas threatened by wildfires in Ranchita area find refuge at Creek Hollow Ranch in Ramona.

Animal control officers with the county’s Department of Animal Services are continuing to rescue dozens of animals at the scene of the Ranchita area wildfires today, Wednesday.

The officers were dispatched yesterday, and with the help of partner groups and volunteers, have worked through the night to help residents evacuate their animals or to evacuate animals whose owners could not be found. So far, they’ve rescued at least 45 animals including horses, goats, llamas and other small animals.

People evacuating with large animals such as livestock and horses should take those animals to Creek Hollow Ranch at 25279 Creek Hollow Drive. The nearest cross street is East Old Julian Highway.

People evacuating with only small animals should go to the Red Cross shelter at Warner Springs High School. The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA will provide pet supplies if needed.

If anyone needs help in evacuating their animals, contact the Department of Animal Services’ emergency dispatch at 619-236-2341.
