Ten vie for eight seats on planning group

Others seek seats on school board, water board

With no one opposing him in his bid for a second term, Darrell Beck automatically remains Division 1 representative on the water board for another four years.

That’s not the case in other Ramona elections slated for the Nov. 6 ballot. Ten candidates are vying for eight seats on the Ramona Community Planning Group, three for two seats on the Ramona Unified School District Board, two for the opportunity to represent Division 3 on the water board, and two for Division 5.

Because Ramona Municipal Water District Division 5 Director Everett “Red” Hager is not seeking re-election, other prospective candidates for the seat have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, to file. When an incumbent doesn’t file for re-election, the law provides a five-day extension for others to file.

Brandon D. DiPietro, a construction inspection supervisor, and George W. Foote, a retired sheriff’s lieutenant, filed for the Division 5 seat by the Aug. 10 deadline.

In Division 3, incumbent Bryan A. Wadlington is seeking a second term on the water board, and Rex A. Schildhouse, a retired serviceman, is also a candidate.

For school board, John M. Rajcic hopes to unseat one of the two incumbents seeking re-election—Dan Lopez and Dawn Perfect.

Five incumbents and five other Ramona residents will be on the ballot as planning group candidates. The incumbents include Torry Brean, Eb Hogervorst, Jim Piva, Paul Stykel, and Richard Tomlinson. Other candidates are Jim Cooper, retired military; Kathy Dasilva, notary; Barbara Jensen, Realtor/business owner; Robin Joy Maxson, behavioral health manager; and Donna Myers, retired schoolteacher.

Planning group members not seeking re-election are Chris Anderson, Bob Hailey, and Angus Tobiason.
