Standing in front of a cutout of the late actor John Wayne, Carly Smith, 11, of Menifee, holds the 45 caliber cowboy revolver her grandfather, Austin Smith, center, also of Menifee, won in the opportunity drawing at Ramona’s National Day of the American Cowboy celebration, presented July 28 by Ranger Doug’s Shootists’ Emporium at Mountain Valley Ranch. Doug “Ranger Doug” Oliver, left, presented the revolver to Smith in his store at 649-C Main St. on Friday. The Smiths, members of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS), go by the aliases “Bonnie MacFarlane” and “Blade Wade” in SASS.
