Registrar to update candidate information through weekend
By Maureen Robertson
San Diego County Registrar of Voters workers will be updating the registrar’s website throughout the weekend to show who met the 5 p.m. Friday deadline to file as candidates in the Nov. 6 election.
Three candidates have filed for two seats on the Ramona Unified School District Board: incumbents Dan Lopez and Dawn Perfect and challenger John M. Rajcic.
Four incumbents and two others have filed for one of the eight seats open on the planning group: Jim Cooper and Robin Joy Maxson and incumbents Eb Hogervorst, Jim Piva, Paul Stykel, and Richard Tomlinson.
Unlike school board and planning group members, who are elected communitywide, water board directors are elected by division, with only voters living within a division’s geographic boundaries eligible to cast ballots.
Division 1 incumbent Darrell Beck is the only candidate who has filed from that division, but that may change as the county updates the candidates’ list.
While Division 3 incumbent Bryan Wadlington received nomination papers from the registrars’ office, as of Friday he had not filed to have his name on the ballot, according to the registrar’s website.
Two Division 5 residents—construction inspection supervisor Brandon D. De Pietro and retired sheriff’s lieutenant George W. Foote—are vying for the seat held for two terms by Everett “Red” Hager, who said he will not seek a third term.
School board, planning group and water board terms are for four years.
Candidate information is at sdcounty.ca.gov/voters/EngEindex.shtml.
