Small fire affects I-8 traffic near Tavern Road in Alpine

Authorities have closed traffic lanes on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road in the Alpine area due to small brush fire burning alongside the freeway, according to California Highway Patrol Thursday afternoon.

The roughly half-acre blaze is not expected to grow much larger or pose any structural threats, a Cal Fire spokesman said.
