Evening of Reds, Whites & Blues will benefit Ramona Town Hall
By Maureen Robertson
Ramona Town Hall trustees and Honorary Mayor Sharon Davis will stage a summer Town Hall benefit at La Finquita Winery on Saturday, July 21,
“An Evening of Reds, Whites & Blues” pairs Ramona wines with exquisite culinary delights, said Davis, who is coordinating the fundraiser for Ramona’s historic Town Hall.
The wine and food pairing event, slated from 6 to 10 p.m., also features saxophonist Tony Matoin.
“The ‘reds’ stand for red wine, the ‘whites’ for white wine, and the ‘blues’ for the music,” Davis said, explaining the event title.
A silent auction and local artisan displays also will be featured.
Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the venue from the Albertsons center parking lot in the 1400 block of Main Street at no additional charge. There will be no on-site parking.
White attire is suggested.
“It’s an elegant thing that people do at summer garden parties,” Davis said, explaining the suggestion to wear white.
Attendance is limited to 150, and those attending must be at least age 21.
Davis, who is in her second two-year term as honorary mayor, earned her title and sash by raising more money for Town Hall than any of the other “$1 a vote” contenders during her initial campaign. No one opposed her in her “re-election” bid.
The summer wine and food pairing event is the first of three upcoming fundraisers to benefit Town Hall. Davis and Town Hall trustees also are discussing a tour of the Barnett Ranch and a traditional 1894 Christmas dinner. The Christmas dinner would be in Town Hall and would be staged in conjunction with Ramona Senior Activity Center. It would feature “the exact dinner that would have been served in 1894,” said Davis.
Advance tickets for An Evening of Reds, Whites & Blues are at Old Time Ramona Antique Fair, 734 Main St., Ramona Chamber of Commerce, 960 Main St., and Charlotte’s Antiques, 964 Main St., or by calling 760-788-2509.
