12-U baseball players advance to semifinals

The Ramona Pony 12-U baseball team will play in the Southwest Regionals Bronco Tournament semifinals on Saturday and if they win, will advance to the Super Regionals.
The 12-U team players began the Pony West Zone 12-U Bronco tournament play on June 23 at Chula Vista South where they went 5-1, winning the Southwest Region South Section Championship.
Ramona defeated La Jolla 2-2, North City Red 2-1, lost 3-1 to Emerald, but came back to defeat Emerald in two games, 5-0 and 9-7 to win the championship.
The Southwest Regionals Bronco Tournament play began on July 7 in Tecolote and Ramona 12-U Red defeated La Costa 13-2. On Sunday, July 8, Ramona beat Tecolote Red 4-3 in an extra inning.
If the 12-U team wins the super regionals on Saturday they will play in the semifinals in Whittier, begining July 19.
